The ISWA World Congress is the most important congress in the world in the field of waste management. The 29th ISWA World Congress was held at the Palacio de Congresos y de la Música Euskalduna in Bilbao (Spain), from 7 to 9 October 2019.

Bilbao welcomed around 1,500 experts, decision-makers and visitors from all over the world.

At the congress, the latest trends and developments in waste management were presented by attending scientific presentations, visiting trade fair stands and visiting modern companies. All this with the aim of exchanging knowledge, establishing new contacts and fostering commercial relations.

The LIFE LEACHLESS project was represented by researchers from Fundación Cartif, who presented to the attendees the results obtained in the project preparatory actions relating to the treatment of leachate by means of evaporation/condensation and forward osmosis technologies.

The presentation aroused great interest among attendees representing waste generating organisations, as well as managers of landfills and waste treatment plants.
